Delicious, Healthy Meals
Jan 04, 2022How to make foods and meals that seem not and so ideal more healthy?
I’ll start with a story of mine from yesterday where I showed pasta sauce that I prepared…You may think a heavy pasta meal, not so ideal.
✨ Modifications are key without sacrificing food groups and/or dishes. I’ll start with the ingredients that you use. I use a very lean beef (97% lean) in the sauce and then a big culprit in marinara sauce is the sugar so this is where it can get tricky. The sauce I use has 5g or less per serving and that equates to 25g or less for the entire jar and when you combine that with the meat and other things you add to the sauce you have about 4-5 servings total.
✨ Another major modification is the amount of pasta you consume. First, because I’m gluten-free I use gluten-free pasta. I also don’t eat a lot of carbs. So you would think why am I eating a carb dish? I get creative, I will wilt a lot of spinach and put that in the bottom of my dish and then top it off with a small amount of the pasta and then top that off with the sauce to get the good stuff and the protein.
✨ I enjoy these modifications because you can take unhealthy, highly caloric and fatty dishes and make them a lot more healthier and still taste good! I have been put to the test by others who have asked me to make modifications for them and it has been successful.😉 I know what tastes good and healthy does not need to mean a lack of taste and boring! To prove it, even my kids who have their own stash of things will get into my healthier, gluten-free items because of how I know what to pick.
