How to Overcome Obstacles and Excuses

I have been working in the health space for many years. I know all the ins and outs and I know all the obstacles and excuses.

✨ I want to share a personal story of mine. I had three hip surgeries that started in my 20s and went into my 30s. They began before I had kids and then the last one was after I had kids. I battled with pain and limitations in my lower right extremity for close to a decade. When you would look at me, I was young, I was strong and I was capable to do anything I wanted physically but yet I had an ailment that few knew about. 

✨ One surgery, let alone several surgeries is the type of scenario a client comes to me and says- is the reason they can’t workout or haven’t worked out. They have pain, they have limited range of motion and the strength is not there. Do I understand this? Absolutely, all too well!! I, however was never going to use this as an excuse but rather, find ways around it to keep my active lifestyle afloat. I was going to overcome all these barriers because it can be done, you just have to know how!

✨ Fortunately for me, I am a personal trainer and know all the biomechanics and also I have done a lot of rehab work to know how to heal the body gradually. But, let me also emphasize another important factor which is the power of your mind and wanting to overcome what is holding you back and not excepting defeat! Believe me, it was not easy going through pregnancies and having little ones and being in so much pain and still wanting to remain active all the while…that is nothing but a strong mindset and mental fortitude!

✨Why do I share my story? For all of you that don’t want to get up and move and find every reason not to, please be thankful that your body allows you to be active. If it were taken away from you, believe me you would be missing it more than you can imagine. Our bodies are meant to move, we are meant to be active and not sedentary so take advantage, get moving and get those endorphins rushing!
